Cellular companies has launched 3G and 4G
services 1 year ago but the 3G and 4G services are still not available in the
northern areas, GB Gilgit-baltistan, AJ&K-Azad Jammu and Kashmir etc. ADSL services are
the only available internet facility throughout the area; provided by SCO. PakistanTelecommunication Authority has finally announced that mobile networks will provide
their 3G and 4G services to the northern areas, GB Gilgit-baltistan, AJ&K-Azad Jammu and Kashmir soon in the future.
Official statement: On PTA PageThe operators have covered most part of the AJ&K and have also extended services to main localities of GB. Now, as a result of this, mobile services with data facilities are available in far-flung mountainous areas of the country. The process for Next Generation Mobile services Award has already begun and soon people of AJ&K and GB will enjoy the high-speed wireless broadband services in their areas.
Now the cellular companies are going to
launch the 3G and 4G services in the northern areas, GB Gilgit-baltistan, AJ&K-Azad Jammu and Kashmir in coming 3 months. Mr. Abid Saeed, the secretary GB Gilgit-baltistan, AJ&K-Azad Jammu and Kashmir, said that it depends on the cooperation of Pakistan Telecommunication
Authority; if Pakistan Telecommunication Authority cooperates than we can give
the 3G and 4G services to the northern areas, GB Gilgit-baltistan, AJ&K-Azad Jammu and Kashmir in just coming 3 months.
